The Problem With Sugar

I mentioned in my post on making your own bread how unhappy I was with the choices in the local grocery store–how the food industry has decided that adding high fructose corn syrup, among other things, is required. If you can’t manage to wade through the dense but quite enlightening Good Calories, Bad Calories, here’s a briefer transcript of an interview with Dr. Robert Lustig, Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology, University of California San Francisco, on the medical basis for reducing sugar in one’s diet. The bottom line is that sugar has much more to do with obesity than fat; reduce the sugar and you will have better success at weight control. But hey, don’t take my word for it…
